read text aloud

Read Text Aloud Online

Hear your writing before you share it. Turn a draft, presentation script, or passage into spoken audio so you can listen for repeated words, long sentences, and ideas that need a clearer explanation.

Before you start

What you need

Prepare a short passage and sign in with a verified account that has available credits. Keep the written draft open if you are using the audio to proofread.

Read aloud text

Paste content into AudioZem and generate speech so drafts, notes, and scripts can be heard instead of only read on screen.

Text read aloud in different styles

How to read a draft aloud for proofreading

  1. Paste a section of your draft

Choose an email, presentation script, story, or other passage. Start with a few paragraphs so it is easy to compare what you wrote with what you hear.

  2. Generate a spoken reading

Open Create, paste the text, and choose an audio type and voice. Use the available language settings that match the passage. Generate the audio and wait for it to finish.

  3. Listen, revise, and check again

Listen for repeated words, sentences that run too long, and transitions that are hard to follow. Make changes in your written draft. Generate a new reading if you want to hear the revised version.

A short passage to read aloud

Paste this sample to hear how punctuation separates the ideas. Then try a paragraph from your own draft.

Before we begin, take a moment to look at the goal. We want to explain one idea clearly. A short example can help. After the example, pause and ask: would someone hearing this for the first time understand what to do next?

Common questions

Can reading text aloud help me review my writing?

Listening gives you another way to review a draft. You can check whether a sentence is easy to follow by ear, then return to the text to make your own edits. Audio generation does not replace checking facts or spelling.

Does changing my draft update the audio automatically?

A completed generation is an audio version of the text submitted for that job. After editing the text, create a new generation to hear the revised passage.

Can I save the reading as audio?

Yes. Play the completed result in AudioZem or download the MP3 to listen in another compatible player. Download before the generated audio is deleted after seven days.

Can I read a document aloud without uploading the whole file?

You can paste just the passage you want to hear into the text input. For a supported PDF document, the PDF upload workflow is also available outside conversation mode.
